IB Computer Science TutoringUnderstand the Logic.
Build the Skills to Solve It.

Code that won’t run. An algorithm you can trace but can’t explain. Theory that feels disconnected from practice. IB Computer Science tutoring gives you time to work through the difficult parts with a tutor, connecting what you learn to problems you can solve yourself.

Find your Computer Science tutor ↗

Learning computer science takes more than memorising definitions or copying a working program. You need to break a problem down, decide how to approach it and explain why your solution works.

Our one-to-one support makes room for that thinking. Bring your questions, test feedback or a programming concept you want to understand. Your tutor helps you find a starting point and build from there.

PROGRESS YOU CAN BUILD ON

The Benefits of
IB Computer Science Tutoring

An IB Computer Science tutor can help you connect classroom theory to practical problem-solving. Trace an algorithm, predict what a program will do and test your reasoning against the result. When something goes wrong, learn how to investigate it.

For written questions, work on precise explanations and applying concepts to an unfamiliar situation. For programming, practise planning, testing and debugging so you can make progress with greater independence.

EXCEPTIONAL TUTORS. RIGOROUS STANDARDS.What it takes to teach at AcadyDiscover how we select, screen and support our IB teachers and graduate tutors.

Outstanding qualifications are only the starting point. We select exceptional IB teachers and IB graduate tutors through a rigorous screening process, looking for the expertise, teaching ability and dedication that make a lasting difference to students.

Four qualities. Every Acady tutor.

Deep subject mastery

A thorough understanding of the subject, with the ability to explain both the fundamentals and the most demanding concepts clearly.

IB mastery

Detailed knowledge of the IB curriculum, assessment criteria and exam expectations, so every lesson supports what the student needs to achieve.

Teaching that connects

The ability to turn knowledge into understanding and build rapport with different students, adapting to their learning preferences, obstacles and challenges.

Commitment & consistency

Effective tutoring grows through a structured, consistent relationship. We work with tutors who prioritise their students and commit to supporting them for the long term.

There are many tutors online. Only a small selection meet all four standards. Our selection process brings these qualities together to give you or your child the strongest possible foundation for academic progress.

How we safeguard teaching quality

  1. Recruit against strict requirements

We select IB teachers and graduate tutors whose academic background, IB expertise and commitment meet our demanding entry requirements.

  2. Get to know the person

Through multiple interviews, we explore their motivation, communication style and approach to supporting students over time.

  3. Put teaching skills into practice

Subject-specific case studies test how they explain ideas, respond to difficulties and guide a student towards understanding.

  4. Verify their background

We rigorously check qualifications and relevant experience, making sure the credentials behind an impressive profile stand up to scrutiny.

  5. Monitor quality and consistency

We follow our tutors’ performance, reliability and teaching quality, with the impact on students’ progress as our central measure.

  6. Stay involved with families

We stay in close contact with IB families and their tutors, helping align expectations, address concerns and keep the right support in place for each student to do their best.

EXPERTISE. CARE. REAL PROGRESS.

Why choose Acady
for IB Computer Science?

At Acady, your tutor match and lesson priorities start with your needs. Work with an IB Computer Science tutor on connecting computing concepts with independent problem-solving, with focused feedback and opportunities to put the learning into practice.

02

Support follows your syllabus and language

Share your exam year, programming language and recent work. Your tutor can focus on the concepts and assessment requirements you actually study, alongside the problems you need help solving.

03

Understand the logic behind the code

Trace algorithms, follow changes in variables and explain the role of a data structure. Work through a solution with your tutor before adapting the approach to a different problem.

04

Learn how to find and explain errors

Use test cases to investigate why a program fails and evaluate possible fixes. For written answers, receive feedback on technical precision and how clearly you apply a concept to the scenario.

05

Code and reason together online

Share code, pseudocode and system diagrams during lessons. Your tutor can follow your decisions, ask you to test an assumption and help you build the habits needed to work independently.

06

Experience the match in a trial lesson

Start with a free consultation, then a 60-minute trial lesson to experience the support. If the match feels right, continue straight away. If a different approach would suit you better, our team helps you find another tutor.

YOUR SUBJECT. YOUR LEVEL.

Computer Science SL or HL?

IB Computer Science combines the study of computing systems with computational thinking and problem-solving. Lessons should reflect your syllabus as well as your level.

Support for your next step.

Tell us your exam year before we plan your support. The course for first assessment in 2027 differs from the course with final assessment in 2026.

SL

STANDARD LEVEL

Build a clear foundation.

IB Computer Science SL tutoring helps you connect key concepts and develop a structured approach to programming and written questions. Practise explaining the process, not just giving the final answer.

HL

HIGHER LEVEL

Develop depth and independence.

IB Computer Science HL tutoring supports more demanding theory and problem-solving. Work through longer tasks, compare approaches and strengthen the precision of your reasoning.

Topics we can work through together

Computing systems

Explore computer fundamentals, networks and databases, connecting the ideas to practical examples. For the course first assessed in 2027, support can also address the machine-learning content.

Algorithms & programming

Practise breaking down a problem, tracing a solution, writing code and testing it. The course first assessed in 2027 uses Java or Python; tell us which language your school teaches.

Object-oriented programming & HL topics

Work on how objects, classes and their relationships organise a solution. For the 2027 syllabus, HL students also study abstract data types. Match the depth of practice to your course.

Case study & assessment preparation

Discuss unfamiliar terminology, connect the case study to course concepts and practise explaining your reasoning. Assessment preparation follows the requirements for your examination session.

The topic overview above reflects the course first assessed in 2027. If you are preparing for a 2026 examination or a retake, tell us during the consultation so we can confirm the relevant requirements with you. IB Computer Science course updates ↗

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Your Computer Science
tutoring questions.

Talk to our team ↗
Do you offer IB Computer Science tutoring for SL and HL?

Yes. Share your level, exam year, programming language and the areas you want help with. We use these details to discuss suitable support and match you with a tutor.

Can I get help with Python or Java?

Tell us the language your school uses and the concepts you find difficult. We can discuss programming support as part of your tutor match. Lessons focus on understanding, planning, debugging and testing your own solutions.

Can a tutor help with my Computer Science IA?

A tutor can explain programming concepts, discuss planning and testing methods, and help you develop the skills needed for independent work. The design, code and documentation you submit must be your own. Follow your school’s rules on feedback and outside assistance.

Which IB Computer Science syllabus do you cover?

We plan support around the course you are actually studying. The new course is first assessed in 2027, while the previous course has its final assessment in 2026. Include your examination session when you contact us, particularly for a retake.

Is tutoring suitable if I am new to programming?

You do not need to arrive with everything understood. Tell us about your experience so we can start at a useful level. Small exercises and clear explanations can help you build confidence before combining ideas in larger problems.

How does online Computer Science tutoring work?

You work one-to-one with your tutor, using discussion, a shared whiteboard and relevant code examples. Sessions can focus on theory, programming practice or exam questions, depending on the support you need.

How does the trial lesson work?

Start with a free consultation to discuss your needs and a suitable tutor match. A 60-minute trial gives you a chance to experience the lessons before continuing. We explain trial options and costs before you book.
